Meet The Face Behind Recruit Productions

I’m Matt Wright, the proud owner of Recruit Productions. I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

After being a sports journalist and videographer for fifteen years, my daughter approached me and said she wanted to play college soccer. I already had a background in sports videography and editing and used my knowledge to put together videos that secured an offer from an NCAA D1 school.

When I saw her face and excitement, I knew I had to help other kids. I saw an opportunity and need to help our youth succeed by putting together video highlights for college coaches and started Recruit Productions, as I believe you don’t have to be a four-star athlete to play sports in college.

I have been in business for about two years and have learned what is effective and what is not. My whole philosophy is to get a coach’s attention quickly by giving you a good-quality video that does not look like everyone else. Odd as it may also sound, it is also a video where you can actually see the athlete compete.

For me, my favorite part is going to the games and shooting videos. Here I get a feel for the athlete as a person, so when it comes time to edit, I can put the video together in a way that really flows. The most rewarding part of the business is getting a call or text saying a coach has reached out and is interested. When an athlete commits to a school, that is awesome! It almost feels like it’s one of your kids getting the offer.

My philosophy is based on making my client stand out.

Why I’ve been successful
As an individual, what sets me apart from others is my creativity and resilience. I attribute my success to the fact I create videos that are of high quality and enjoyable to watch. I also stick with an athlete even after the video is done and until they decide on a college. Our success is in our results. Most of our new business comes from referrals from happy clients.

I had one client, in particular, that wasn’t hearing back from colleges. I stuck with them and encouraged them to keep contacting coaches. Sometimes honestly, you have to recruit the coaches. Not in an annoying way, but to show them you really want to play for them. Eventually, my client got a call and an offer. They were so happy and excited. Moments like this have given me immense satisfaction.

During my downtime
When I am not at work, I enjoy exercising and staying competitive. I like to do five to ten-mile races or different levels of Triathlons. I have done a 1/2 Triathlon, but my goal is to do a full one eventually.
